Dubai is included in the seven emirates of UAE and Dubai is one of the two emirates that have the veto power on the matters of country. Dubai is located on the Arabian Peninsula south of Persian Gulf. Modern Dubai was founded in the year 1971 after the British left the place. Dubai emerged as a business hub as well as a global city these days. The economy of Dubai mainly depends up on the oil industry but now tourism is also a source of their revenue. Recently, Dubai has concentrated more on tourism with new innovative methods. Dubai is located on the coast of Persian Gulf at sea level and within Arabian Desert.
Dubai is bordered by Sharjah in northeast, Sultanate of Oman in southeast and Abu Dhabi in south. Dubai supports religions such as Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Bahai and other communities. Non-Muslim communities also can build their places of worship and can freely practice their religion. Dubai mainly attracts the travelers on shopping even though there are several modern and ancient attractions. Among the seven states of UAE, Dubai has the highest population and the large amount of the revenue for UAE is coming from Dubai tourism.
Dubai is the shopping capital of Middle East. Over 70 malls are there in Dubai that also includes the 'Dubai Mall' which is the 7th largest mall in the world. Dubai lures a large number of tourists for shopping from Africa, Indian sub continent and Easter Europe. You can also find several electronic shops, supermarkets and department stores in Dubai. Tourist can also enjoy the sights in souk districts which are situated on both side of the Dubai creek. During ancient times, ships from Sri Lanka, India, Far East and China came for trading goods in the souks that are near to the docks. Dubai is also known as the City of Gold and there are about 250 gold shops in Gold Souk at Deira. The retail prices for the goods in Dubai are reasonable and you can find different types of products.
Dubai is famous for its architectural structures and buildings. Now-a-days, Dubai is in a constructional boom to innovate architectural structures supported by the engineering and architectural firms from Chicago and New York. Because of this constructional boom, the entire Arab world is taking new levels in the technology and design of skyscraper buildings. The recently completed Burj Khalifa is an example, it is the tallest building in the world with a height of 828m.
Several gardens, heritage villages, parks and amusement parks are also there in Dubai. Some of the popular parks in Dubai are Safa Park, Creekside Park, Jumeirah Open Beach Park, Mushrif Park, Zabeel Park, Wonderland Amusement Park, Wild Wadi, and Al Mamzar Beach Park. A major landmark in Dubai is the Deira Clock Tower. Some of the other popular tourist destinations are Jumeirah Beach, Dubai Marina, Burj Al Arab, Bur Dubai, Jumeirah Islands and Deira.
