Saudi Arabia or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in the Middle East. The country is bordered by Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kuwait and Yemen. A bridge is connecting between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Saudi Arabia is also known as the “Land of Two Holy Mosques” and the two mosques are Masjid Al-Nabawi in Medina and Masjid al-Haram in Mecca which are the holy places of Muslims. The present kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud way back in 1902. The government of Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy with Islamic rules.
Saudi Arabian government is lead by the Saudi monarchy and the country is ruled by sons as well as grandsons of Abd Al Aziz Al Saud, the first king. The members of the royal family are selecting the king from themselves which is approved by the religious leaders of Saudi Arabia. The country is governed by Sharia which is based on Islamic law and Quran is considered as the constitution of Saudi Arabia. The country has the largest reserves for oil in the world which made the biggest oil exporter in the world. About 90% of the exports are of oil and the 75% of the revenue is from oil exports.
The population in Saudi Arabia is 27 million which includes 8.5 millions of foreign residents. In Saudi Arabia, 31% of population is foreign nationals. Majority of the population consists of Muslims and 97% of the population is Muslims. Sunnis are dominant in Saudi Arabia and religious freedom is not there in Saude Arabia. The official language of the country is Arabic. Rub Al-Khali, the biggest continuous desert in the world is located in Saudi Arabia. Some of the major cities of Saudi Arabia are Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Hasa, Tabuk, Dammam, Buraidah, Abha, Khamis Mushait and Al-Khubar. Riyadh is the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
Several tourist spots in the country enables you to know the architectural heritage, history and culture of the country. Mecca and Medina are the holy places in Saudi Arabia visited by Muslims from all around the globe. According to Islam, visiting these holy places is considered as a spiritual journey. Habalah is a village situated on the top of a cliff and the village is deserted. Madain Saleh is place where the monumental sites of Saudi Arabia located. Jeddah is the metropolitan city situated on the Red Sea which is also the gateway to the holy places, Mecca and Medina.

Coastal area of Red sea is rich in marine life and coral reefs. Old Dir’aiyah located in Riyadh is a historical site which lures tourists. You can also find old souks in Jeddah which are worth visiting.
