Shandrani Hotel & Resort

As one of the hotel complexes in the chain owned and maintained by Beachcomber Hotels, the Mauritius Shandrani Resort & Spa has quite a billing to live up to. Beachcomber provide some of the most sumptuous luxury accommodation known to man, specializing in Indian Ocean getaways such as Mauritius and the Seychelles.

The Mauritius Shandrani Resort & Spa is a five-star hotel complex, located amidst lush tropical gardens. The resort premiered the concept “Serenity plus”, designed to mean better value and more choice for the duration of your stay. Mauritius Sandrani, as part of Serenity Plus, claims to have no hidden expenses that need budgeting for and no bills to sign during your stay – naming itself as offering the first All Inclusive five-star resort on the main island of Mauritius.

There is plenty to do during your Serenity Plus experience at the complex, as the Mauritius Sandrani has three different beaches to choose from. Just offshore there is a Marine Park full of sea life, all of which can be explored by snorkeling or aboard a glass-bottom boat. As promised, all of this is included in the room rate.

Other features of Serenity Plus are indeed tempting and well considered. With any stay at the hotel, qualified divers can enjoy unlimited access to the waters and lagoons surrounding the hotel. There is also unlimited water-skiing, unlimited access to both the nine-hole golf course and and “pitch and putt” golf course, as well as a Decleor massage for every adult in your party, lasting for 45 minutes. While this perks are not unusual in Mauritius or unique to the Mauritius Sandrani, having them be included in the price of the stay is. Usually, you would pay extra for such activities, so perhaps the Sandrani can indeed live up to it’s Beachcomber reputation.

The most basic room available at the Mauritius Sandrani is the Superior Room, of which the hotel has 179 available. These offer one bedroom accommodation with a fantastic en suite bathroom, as well as a terrace or balcony for your use. The next room type up the ladder is the Deluxe Room, which has all the features of the Superior Room, but also include a seating area as well as bedroom, a walk in wardrobe, separate toilets and a private terrace. Of the 108 Deluxe Rooms available, 18 are interconnecting, making them ideal for large parties.

Families are not forgotten at the Mauritius Sandrani. There are 36 Family Apartments on site and two Family Suites, both of which feature two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private balcony with a sea view. The final step of luxury is the Senior Suite, which features all of the above and lavish decoration and styling. All rooms come complete with individually controlled air conditioning, a king size bed or twin beds, mini bar and satellite television.

Prices vary depending on season, and good offers direct from Beachcomber are available if you check their website frequently. One night in a Superior Room generally costs around €448, though as mentioned, good deals are available direct from Beachcomber. A Deluxe Room is around €800 during peak season, while the Family accommodation during the summer months ranges from €1200 to €1400. If you visit off peak, this can be cut to as little as €800. Finally, the Senior Suite costs between €620 and €1400, again depending on season.

The concept of Serenity Plus is certainly intriguing for those who like “All Inclusive” to mean just that, and the stunning location of the Mauritius Sandrani is sure to win it fans. Whatever you desire from a Mauritian holiday, the Mauritius Sandrani is more than quipped to supply it.
