Bolivia is located in the South America which was once known as the Upper Peru. The name was given as Bolivia when Upper Peru is to unite with United Provinces the so called Rio de la Plata. This is basically the time when it was in the thoughts of declaring the independence to this area from Viceroyalty of Peru. The country is bordered by Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Peru and Brazil. Somewhere in the past to about 2000 years, when Aymara have migrated to this place and started occupying the so called Bolivia.
To talk about its wealth the Spanish has its earnings from the silver. This definitely did not let Spanish to declare this place as free from their ruling. The rebellion that raised by the natives forming as labor force could not win any fruitful result for the people of Bolivia. Continuous Napoleonic wars, Chuquisaca revolution, La Paz Revolution, Spanish American wars like this with continuous only on August 6th in year 1825 Bolivia is declared as republic. Bolivia has democratic government from 1982 and President is the head of the state, head of the government and head of the multi-party system.
Bolivia is among the least developed and poorest countries in Latin America even though the country has abundance of natural resources. The reason why Bolivia became popular is due to the increased price for gold worldwide. This gold which has increasing demand was the treasure for the country. This made the country more powerful politically and has attained great stability in its economy. Bolivia is the 28th largest country in the world. It lies in between 9 to 23 degrees south latitudes and 57 to 70 west longitudes. The many ecological zones of the country are plenty. Andes, western highlands, Amazonian rain forests in the eastern lowlands, and the Chaco plain are the three halves of the Bolivia.
The population of the country is more than 11 million. Among the population 55% are Amerindians, 30% are Mestizo and 15% are whites. Majority of the Bolivians are Roman Catholic and there is no official religion in the country. Other religions are Islam and Jewish. The official languages of the country are Spanish, Quechua and Aymara. Tourism plays an important role in the economy of the country. La Paz is a city of tourist attractions and some of the tourist destinations in the city are Lake Titicaca, Copacabana, Coroico, Tiahuanaco, Valle de la Luna, Chacaltaya, Sorata and Witches Market.
Salar de Uyuni was the huge salt lake and the lake is now dried up leaving a massive salt behind like a desert in Uyuni. Uyuni is famous for its hot springs, giant cacti, volcanoes, red & green lakes and geysers. Another popular attraction in Bolivia is Santa Cruz, largest city of Bolivia where you can find Inca ruins, Jesuit Mission of Chiquitos, Cotoca, Ambora National Park and Noel Kempff National Park. Sucre is another city with popular tourist destinations such as Playo 25 de Mayo, several museums and Castle of La Glorieta. Other popular attractions in Bolivia are Cerro Rico, Casa Nacional de la Moneda, Tarapaya Lake Hot Springs, weeping statue of Christ, Simon Patino Palace, Archaeological Museum and Torotoro National Park.
