Guam is situated in Pacific Ocean and the island is an unincorporated territory of United States with a civilian government. Hagatna is the capital of Guam and the island is largest among the Mariana Islands. The first inhabitants came to the island for about 4,000 years back. The island was discovered by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 and the Spain established colony in 1668. Until 1898, the island was under the control of Spain and as per the Treaty of Paris, Spain surrendered the island to United States after Spanish-American War. In 1941, Japanese captured the island after bombing in Pearl Harbor and occupied it for two and half years.

Guam is headed by an elected governor and unicameral legislature of fifteen members called senators. The economy of Guam Island mainly depends on tourism. Other source of income is the US military as US military maintains bases in the Island. Many islanders are serving the US military as duty personnel and carrying civilian duties in Defense Department. Significant revenue sources also include designer duty-free shopping outlets and American-style malls. The population of Guam is 164,200 and around 37.1% of the population is native Chamorros and other major ethnic groups are White that includes White American and Spanish ancestry, Filipinos and Chinese with Korean and Japanese ancestry.

The predominant religion of Guam is Roman Catholicism with 85% people following Roman Catholicism. Guam Island is an ideal tourist destination for the tourists. Guam Island is located near Marianas Trench which is the deepest part of the ocean. Majority of the tourists are coming from Asian countries such as China, Philippines, Korea and Japan. In Guam, the tourists can enjoy various activities such as diving, golfing, scuba diving, fishing, sailing, dolphin watching and eco tours.

Chamorro Village is a great attraction in Guam that offers local vendors of food, authentic shops for gifts and on some nights you can have some entertainment. Cocos Island is an uninhabited island with no permanent residents, but the island is a tourist spot where the tourists can enjoy boat rides to and fro the island, scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing, snorkeling and dolphin watching. Fish Eye Marine Park is a naturally protected lagoon and marine preserve. The park is a unique observatory under water and surrounding this location, a famous diving spot is there. The area has more than 200 fish species.

Two Lovers’ Point is another famous attraction located on a cliff line at Tumon which offers great sights of Tumon coastal line. Talofofo Falls is a major tourist spot in which Talofofo Waterfall is located. Ritidian Point is a wildlife reserve which has beautiful beaches to enjoy variety of activities. Mount Lamlam, another attraction is highest point on this island. Umatac is a village with historical importance where Ferdinand Magellan landed and every year that day is celebrated in the island. Tourist can see the ruins of Saint Dionicio Church and monument of Magellan in Umatac. Fort Nuestra Senora de la Soledad in Umatac offers a great view of the hilltop at Umatac Bay.
