Guyana is located in South America previously called as British Guiana and the country is bordered by Suriname, Venezuela, Brazil and Atlantic Ocean. The country was the colony of Dutch and British. Dutch ruled the country for about 200 years. Guyana is the only country in Commonwealth of Nations and the country is not an island among the Caribbean countries. The inhabitants of Guyana were Caribs and Arawak tribes. Dutch was the first to make Guyana as its colony and then British. Guyana got independence from Dutch in 1814 and in 1831, British established colonization in Guyana. Guyana got independence from British in the year 1966 and in 1970, the country became republic.
Guyana is divided in to five geographical regions such as low coastal plains, inlands, rainforest, savannah and interior lowlands. Some of the highest mountains of the country are Mount Ayanganna, Mount Roraima and Monte Caburai. Guyana is also famous for its biodiversity with numerous species of vertebrae, birds and mammals. Guyana is semi-presidential republic in which President is the head of the state and head of the government. Executive power is vested on government and legislative power is exercised by both government and National assembly.
The economy of the country mainly depends on bauxite mining, gold mining, agriculture, minerals, timber and shrimp fishing. Guyana has a high cost of living because the daily items are imported and the costs of things include the transportation costs. The population of country is 777,000 which consist of ethnically and racially heterogeneous people. So the population consists of groups of people from ethnic backgrounds such as Africa, India, China, Europe and Aboriginal. Guyana’s official language is English and other languages are Caribbean languages and Guyanese Creole. Among the population, 57% are Christians and other religions are Hindus, Muslims, Rastafarian and Baha’i.

Guyana Heritage Museum situated at Kastev also is a popular destination which consists of stamps, coins and maps of 18th as well as 19th century. Museum also preserved irons, books of Guyanese authors, enamel lunch carriers, irons, three-legged iron pots and ice-shavers. Museum of African Heritage is also a popular destination which consists of drums, games, clothing, musical instruments and gold dust. Other popular destinations are Kaieteur Falls, Orinduik Falls, the Kanuku Mountains, Marshall Falls, Shell Beach, Mabaruma, Iwokrama, Paramakatoi and Lethem.
