Kenya is situated in East Africa and the country is bordered by Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, Tanzania and Sudan. Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and Kenya got the name from Mount Kenya which is a major landmark of the country. Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain peak of Africa. The geography of the country is diverse with arid lands, semi-arid lands, mountains, forests, deserts and savannah grasslands. The fossils of Giant crocodiles were discovered in the country dated back to Mesozoic Era. According to archaeological studies, the country is said to be the cradle of human settlement.
Kenya was under the colonial rules of Germans and British. Kenya got independence in the year 1963 from United Kingdom. Kenya is a democratic republic in which president is the head of the state and head of the government. Kenya has multi-party system and the executive power is vested upon the government and legislative power is exercised by both National Assembly and the government. The judiciary system is independent from the both executive and legislative powers. Despite of the political instability and crisis happened in the neighboring countries; Kenya always maintained its stability as a country.
Kenya has a market-based economy and the country is considered as the hub of Financial Communication and Transportation services of Central and Eastern. About 63% of the GDP is contributed by the services sector in which tourism is dominated. The second largest contributor of the economy is agriculture. The population of Kenya is 49.7 million and the country has diverse population. The ethnic groups of Kenya are Kikuyu, Luhya, Kalenjin, Luo, Kisii, Kamba, Meru, other African tribes and non-Africans. About 45% of the Kenyan people are Christians of which Protestants and Roman Catholics are the majority. Other religious groups are Islam, indigenous beliefs and Baha’i. Most of the Kenyans can speak Swahili and English.
Kenya is famous for its national parks with millions of animals. Some of the national parks of Kenya are Masai Mara National Reserve, Tsavo National Park, Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu Game Reserve, Amboseli National Park and Aberdare National Park. The annual migration of zebras and wildebeests to Masai Mara from the Serengeti National Park is a spectacular sight for the tourists. Besides the national parks, there are mountains, beaches, coral reefs, lakes, deserts and savannah grasslands make Kenya a spectacular country.

You can also witness the Nile crocodiles crowded during feeding time for meat in Mamba Villages of Nairobi and Mombasa. Lamu is an island town popular for dhows and donkey used for transport. Watamu has some best coral reefs of the world that offers opportunities for diving and snorkeling.
