The official name of Luxembourg is Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The country is landlocked by Belgium, Germany and France. The capital of the country is Luxembourg. The evidence of first human inhabitants goes back of 35,000 years. The recorded history of Luxembourg begins from Roman times and the history of the place is known from 963. The proper history of the country began after the building of Luxembourg Castle. The town slowly developed around the castle. The territory was sold to Philip, the Good of Burgundy, by the Duchess Elisabeth due to the succession crisis in the House of Luxembourg. Successive occupants of the Luxembourg fortress strengthened it.
The country was under the French rule till 1815, and the country got independence from France after the Treaty of Paris. Luxembourg maintained its personal union with Netherlands till 1890 which started from 1815. Luxembourg is a democratic country with parliamentary system led by constitutional monarch. The cabinet and the Grand Duke will take care of the executive power. Legislative power is exercised by the Chamber of Deputies. Judicial system is independent from executive power and legislative power. The economy of the country is stable, and the country enjoys high-income economy with low unemployment, low inflation and moderate growth. The economy of the country mainly depends on the industries such as industrial sector, banking sector and steel industry.

The immigrant population consists of people from France, Belgium, Germany, Portugal and Italy. Luxembourg has three official languages such as Luxembourgish, French, and German. English is used as the medium of instruction and Portuguese language is also spoken among people. Roman Catholic is the country’s predominant religion, even though Luxembourg is a secular state. Religious minorities of the country are Islam, Anglican, Jewish and Protestants.
Luxembourg offers only a few tourist attractions, even though the country has unique landscapes, historical attractions and interesting towns. Bock Cliff is located in Luxembourg City and the places around the cliff are included in the Memorial of City’s Millennial Existence. Castle Bridge connects the cliff to city and the bridge was built in 1735. Echternach is an old town where you can see the famous Echternach International Festival and Spring Parade. Abbey of Echternach is a Benedectine monastery, and it is the most famous religious structure. The founder of this structure is St. Willibrord.
Dudelange is a town located at Mt. Saint Jean and the museum here displays the history, archaeology, paleontology and steelwork. National Museum of the Resistance displays the military artifacts of First World War, and Second World War. Parc Meveilleuz comprises of playground, theme park, mini golf course, luna park, restaurants and mini train. Holy Ghost Citadel was built in the year 1865 where you can find barracks and military museum that displays the military history of Luxembourg. Vianden Castle, a structure situated near Our River is a popular tourist spot. Mamer Castle is also a famous castle situated in Mamer that consists of four buildings. Mamer Castle houses local government offices, town hall and communal council.
