Mexico is located in North America and the country is bordered by United States, Guatemala, Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico and Belize. Mexico City is the capital of Mexico. Among the largest countries in Americas, Mexico is in the fifth position by total area. It is evident that during 21,000 BCE, human settlements were there in Mexico as pieces of stone tools were found at the remains of campfire in Mexico Valley. The indigenous people settled there around 9,000 years back domesticated and started the revolution of agriculture which in turn led to several complex civilizations. These Mexican civilizations have contributed several advancements and invention in the field of mathematics, medicine, astronomy, theology and mathematics.
In the year 1521, Mexico was conquered and made a colony of Spain. Mexico declared independence from Spain in 1810, but recognized the independence in the year 1821. Mexico is a federation with democratic republican government. President is the head of the government and commander-in-chief of military forces. Executive power is exercised by the President. The legislative power is exercised by Chamber of Deputies and Senate. Mexico is among the founding members of many organizations such as Organization of American States, United Nations, Rio Group, Organization of Ibero-American States, Rio Group and OPANAL.
The economy of Mexico is in 11th position among the largest economies of the world. Some of the major industries that play a key role in the economy of the country are Steel and Iron, Electricity, Textiles, clothing, computers, information technology, ecotourism and tourism. The population of Mexico is around 129 million making it the 11th populous country of the world. About 75% of the population is urban. Mexico has a diverse population in terms of ethnicity and majority of the population consists of Mestizos. There is no official language in Mexico and 97% of the people are speaking Spanish. Majority of the population is Christians.
Tourism is a large industry in Mexico with a variety of tourist spots and Mexico also encourages ecotourism. The biodiversity of Mexico is popular with more than 200,000 various species and about 10-12% of the biodiversity in the world is present in Mexico. The capital of the country Mexico City is a major destination of tourists. Some of the famous tourist spots of Mexico are Pyramid of the Moon, Pyramid of the Sun, La Zona Rosa, El Zocalo, El Palenque, Mexican National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral and National Museum of Anthropology and History.
Puebla is a colonial city with interesting sightseeing places. Acapulco is a town with beautiful beaches and the place is filled with all kind of activities. Guadalajara is a famous city with several museums, theatres and art galleries. Teotihuacan is Mexico’s Pre-Hispanic city with attractions such as citadel with Temple of Quetzalcoatl and Palace of Quetzalpaplalotl. Centro Historico is located at Morelia which consists of more than thousand historical sites that include aqueduct and cathedral. There are several beaches along the coastlines of Mexico such as Cancun, Guaymas, Puerto Penasco, Cabo San Lucas, Huatulco, Playa del Carmen, San Jose del Cabo, and Puerto Vallarta and so on.
