Norway is a Northern European country. Oslo is the capital of Norway. The country is bordered by Russia, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. According to evidences, Norway was inhabited by humans in 10th millennium BC. People of Ahrensnburg culture were the first inhabitants of the country. Sami people are the indigenous people of Central Norway and Northern Norway. Around 700AC, the country was divided into small kingdoms. The Norway then unified in around 872 by the King Harald Fairhair. After the death of the King, the country could not maintain its unity. After Black Death, the country united with Sweden and Denmark to form Kalmar Union in 1397.

In 1521, Sweden separated from Kalmar Union, but Norway and Denmark remained united until 1814. In 1814, Denmark surrendered Norway to Sweden during the period of Battle of Copenhagen. Norway was against that decision which caused Norwegian-Swedish War. Towards the end of 1814, Norway united with Sweden, and dissolution of union with Sweden happened in the year 1905. At present, Norway is a constitutional monarchy in with King is the head of the state and head of the government is the Prime Minister. Executive power is executed by the monarch who is also the commander-in-chief of armed forces, symbol of unity, chief diplomatic official and supreme authority of Norwegian church. Legislative power is taken care by both Storting and government.

Norwegian economy is a mixed economy, and the economy of the country depends on fisheries, petroleum production and hydroelectric power. The Norwegian people are enjoying highest standard of living. The population of Norway is 5.3 million and majority of the population consists of ethnic Norwegians. Other ethnic groups of the country are Sami people, Kven people, Norwegian Romani travelers, Jews and Forest Finns. Christianity accounts for 84.2% of the population. Among Christians, 80.6% is following Lutheranism and other Christian minorities are Pentecostalism, Catholicism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Methodism, Orthodoxy, Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Baptism. Other minority religions are Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Baha’i and Judaism. The official language of Norway is Norwegian. Other languages spoken are Northern Sami, Kven, Southern Sami and Lule Sami.

Norway is an excellent place with river, lakes, ponds, and rolling mountains. The variety of landscapes, culture, World Heritage Sites and vibrant cities of this country makes it the favorite tourist destination. Oslo, the capital of the country offers natural attractions and variety of entertainments for the visitors. Some of the popular tourist spots of Oslo are House of Viking ships, Park Vigeland, Holmenkollen’s ski slopes, Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions, Akershus Fortress, Polar Ship Farm and Karl Johan Avenue. Trondheim is a city with museums and remarkable heritage buildings.

Bergen is an ancient city with 900 years old features several cultural events, festivals and international music throughout the year. Bergen is listed as the World Heritage City by UNESCO. Stavanger is a great place where you can find beaches, lighthouses, islands, mountains, waterfalls and hillsides. Geirangerfjord is a magnificent place where you can enjoy the natural scenery by cruising through the water, and you can find three waterfalls here. Geirangefjord also offers activities such as hiking, fishing, boating and kayaking. Trondheim is another famous city with popular attractions such as Stiftsgarden, Museum of Folkloric Art, Nidaros Cathedral and Kristiansten Fortress.
