akistan is an Islamic republic located in South Asia and the country is bordered by India, Afghanistan, Iran and China. Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan. Pakistan is in the sixth position among the most populous countries of the world. The country also comprises of second largest population of Muslims. Pakistan is a diverse country both linguistically and ethnically with variation of wildlife and geography. Pakistan is in seventh position among the armed forces in the world and the only nation of Muslim majority having nuclear weapons. Pakistan is the home of many ancient cultures which includes Indus Valley Civilization and Neolithic era’s Mehrgarh at Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa.
The territories of Pakistan were ruled by ancient empires like Mauryas, Guptas, Nandas, Palas and Sugas at various times in Patliputra. The country is a democratic republic with parliamentary system. Head of the state is the president and President is also the commander-in-chief of Armed forces. Prime minister is the leader of largest party of national assembly. Throughout the history of Pakistan, the military of the country play a crucial role in the politics. The country was ruled by military presidents from 1958 to 1971, 1977 to 1988 and 1999 to 2008.
Pakistan’s economy is semi-industrialized and mainly dependent on agriculture. About 20% of GDP is from agriculture and 53% of GDP is from service sector. Other industries are food processing, textiles, iron industry, steel and chemicals manufacturing. The population of Pakistan is more than 170 million. Majority of the population is residing along Indus River and Karachi is largest city based on population. The major ethnic groups among the population are Punjabis, Pashtuns, Sindhis, Seraikis, Mujahirs and Balochs. The country is multilingual with over sixty languages. The official language of the country is English. Urdu is the national language of the country and other languages are Punjabi, Saraiki, Pashto, Sindhi and Balochi.

K2 is the second among the largest peaks of the world and the peak is located in Karakoram mountainous range.
Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa are two major ancient cities of Indus Valley civilization. You can find the ruins of both cities in Pakistan. Karachi is a city with a beautiful beach, Clifton beach. Karachi is the economic center of the country. Karachi is a perfect place for shopping and Pakistani food. In the Sindh region, you can find famous mosques and mausoleums apart from Mohenjo-Daro. You can also enjoy the water sports at Lake Haleji of Sindh region. Lahore is another famous city with historic buildings made of white and pink marble. Some of the attractions of Lahore are Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, and Harappa, National Museum of Archaeology, Gate of Chauburji and bazaars.
