Trinidad & Tobago is an archipelago situated in the Caribbean that shares marine boundaries with nations such as Barbados, Guyana and Venezuela. Trinidad and Tobago consists of two major islands and several smaller islands. Trinidad is the biggest and populous among the two major islands. Some of the smaller islands are Monos, Huevos, Chacachacare, Little Tobago, St. Giles Island and Gaspar Grande. The islands are the combination of plains and mountains with tropical climate. Port of Spain is the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.

The nation was the colony of Spain from the age of Christopher Columbus to the year 1802. From 1802, the island was under the control of British and the nation obtained independence in the year 1962. In the year 1976, Trinidad and Tobago became republic. The first inhabitants of the islands were Amerindians. Trinidad & Tobago has a two-party system with a bicameral parliament. President is the head of the state and Prime Minister is the head of the government. The electoral is electing the President of the country and the general election will be conducted in every five years. Senate and House of Representative are the two chambers of Parliament.

The economy of the country mainly depends up on the petroleum industry. Other two major industries are manufacturing and tourism. The population of the country is more than 1.5 million and 96% of the inhabitants are living in Trinidad and only 4% of the population is residing in Tobago. Almost 80% of the people are Afro-Trinidadian and Tobagonians and Indo-Trinidadian and Tobagonians whereas remaining population consist of Amerindian, Syrian-Lebanese, Chinese, European and mixed race. Majority of the population are following Christianity which includes Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Seventh-day Adventists, Evangelical, Methodists and Presbyterians. Others religions are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Muslims and Hindus.

The official language of the country is English and the major spoken languages are Trinidadian Creole English and Tobagonian Creole English. Trinidad and Tobago are popular for the beach destinations and famous beaches of the twin islands are Store Bay, Little Tobago and Windward Coast. The beaches of this nation are filled with natural beauty and you can enjoy various water sports such as kayaking, fishing, boating, sailing, swimming and parasailing. Several wildlife parks are also there in the islands such as Tobago Rain Forest Reserve, Grafton Nature Sanctuary, Arnos Vale Water Wheel and Nature Park. These wildlife reserves and nature parks are the home to animals and plant of rare species.

Buccoo Reef is situated at Tobago is a protected area for marine creatures, tropical fish and coral polyps. Sailing is the major attraction in Tobago with several charter companies offering cruises with snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming.
