Maritim Hotel Mauritius

On the northwest coast of Mauritius, there is a popular tourist destination known as Turtle Bay. The surrounding location is Balaclava, also an oft-mentioned place of interest for any visitor to the island of Mauritius. And based in Turtle Bay itself is the Maritim Hotel Mauritius.

Turtle Bay is actually a national marine park, which the Maritim Hotel is actually based within. To reach the hotel and general area, the hotel organizes taxis and even helicopters to transport their guests to it’s stunning luxury resort and complex. Therefore, if you are particularly interested in marine wildlife, staying right on site of a national park can be nothing but a blessing.

The Maritim Hotel Mauritius is a four star hotel complex, which features 500 meters of it’s own private beach. No one, including locals, can spend time on this stretch of beach apart from those staying at the Maritim itself. The luxury of being able to walk from your room or suite and straight on to the beach is something many tourists and visitors treasure, the feature repeatedly coming up when people review the hotel.

The wonders of the Maritim Hotel Mauritius do not end there. Also on site, as well as the nearby national park, are all of the usual amenities a tourist would expect from a hotel complex and then more. Included in the room rate is access to a fitness studio, swimming pool, poolside bar, arcade and game room and a swim up bar. Outside of the room rate but still on site, there is a exclusive array of boutiques in the shopping arcade, spa, hair and beauty treatments and massage treatment rooms.

The hotel itself overlooks the beach, gazing out onto the crisp powder-like sandy and the clear, endless blue water. The main swimming pool itself is placed with the sea in view, conjuring up the feeling of being able to swim to the horizon.

All of this has probably already made you wish you were there, as the traditionally designed hotel complex at the Maritim Hotel Mauritius is simply stunning. The average nightly rate for a deluxe room with an ocean view is around L365 / $700, but availability is scarce. Just in the course of researching this article, I attempted to book a room on many dates just to find the average room price but found it fully booked for almost all of 2009! If you intend to stay at the Maritim Hotel Mauritius, it is advisable to book as early as possible.

The range of rooms is quite impressive, though the more luxurious the suite the sooner it is booked. A deluxe ocean view room with dinner and a full breakfast costs around L492. The Courtyard Junior suites, which does not look out on the ocean, is on average L632 per night, with the most luxurious suite – the Luxury Terrace Suite Ocean View, complete with dinner and a full breakfast – is a breathtaking L1,090 per night. But remember, advance booking is absolutely necessary no matter which room you prefer, and perhaps this tendency to be fully booked is the greatest testament to the charms of the Maritim Hotel Mauritius.
