Namibia successfully finished its transition from the apartheid rule of White minority to a parliamentary democracy after the independence.
Namibia is a presidential democratic republic and President is both head of the state and head of the government. The executive power is held by the government and legislative power is vested on both government and bicameral parliament. Judiciary is independent from both executive and legislative powers. The economy of Namibia is closely related to South Africa. Tourism, mining manufacturing and agriculture are the largest economic sectors. The banking sector of the country is highly developed with modern technologies like cell phone banking, online banking etc.
The population of the country is 2.53 million and majority of the population are black Africans of Ovambo ethnicity. Other ethnic groups of the country are Herero, Himba, Damara, Bantu and Khoisan. Namibian Whites have the ancestry of Dutch, Portuguese, German, French and British. About 80% of the total population is Christians and among them 50% is Lutheran. About 10% of the people have indigenous beliefs and 3% of the population is following Islam. The religious beliefs of remaining people are not known. English is the official language of the country. Other languages spoken are Oshiwambo, German and Portuguese.
